Couch Potato

Couch potato. That’s what I am during the weekends. Lil’ Raymund’s just lying at the living room waiting for an invitation. But i’m pretty sure that at the end of the day, nobody will ask me out. :(

It’s a hot Saturday morning. It’s still 8:30am but the temperature was killing me. I decided to turn on the TV, and watched American Idol replay instead. After the show, I felt bored and so I ate my brunch, rice and beef steak. Full! Then, I slept again. I woke up around 1pm. And I have eaten again the same food that I ate awhile ago. And, I surfed the net. And I listened to music. And I turned on the TV again. And It’s dinner time. And I sleep again. What a boring day. But actually, I don’t feel like doing anything today. And so I did nothing. I hope I can get some invitations tomorrow. :)

My Job Ain’t Easy

12/31/2010

Hello everyone! I’m Mon Lee from Philippines. 20 years old. This is my first blog site, so i’m not so familiar of using this. :) Currently, I’m working as an ESL teacher in Cebu, Philippines. But I’m a nursing graduate. There are lots of nursing graduates now in the Philippines who are jobless. But me, I’m not. I’m not a nurse though. I got my paradigm shifted. Instead of working as a nurse, I’m now stocked here in an ESL school. The salary is not really that good but i’m contented with it though. I have been working since the 28th of September. At first, I really enjoyed working it because my job is more on entertaining than educating. So, it’s not a stressful job. I met a lot of Korean, Japanese, Russian, Italian, and of course Filipino friends. My working place is like a paradise. Everytime I step in to that academy, I feel like the world changes. Everyone there is happy and gay. I feel blissful everyday.

On my third week, I got 3 new students namely: Koo, Dong, and Jin. They are all guys and ages are between 26 to 28. As a novice, I was really trying to show my best and establish rapport to my students. I want them to feel that they got the best teacher in school, even though i’m not. :) And because of my good IPR skills, they invited me to go with them in a city tour. And so I joined them. We went to many historical places in Cebu, including Sto. Niño church, Magellan’s Cross, Port San Pedro, etc. After a long day of tour, we decided to have a dinner in Casa Verde (a Spanish restaurant). After which, we drank some alcohol in William’s pub. We had fun and that day was very memorable for me.

I didn’t get bored in their class because it’s like we already have shared a lot of things to each other. After a few weeks, Dong told me he met a girl named Mitch in Pump Club and he showed me the picture. Mitch has a short hair, fair-skinned, sexy, but she looks so bitchy and she got a thick make-up on her face. She’s a typical Filipina but I don’t trust her just because of her looks. I was a little bit of judgmental but I think it was just my opinion. So, I told Dong to be careful with her. Few days later, he told me that they had sex in a motel. And he also told me the details. He didn’t wear a condom because Mitch didn’t like him to wear one. I told him that he’s not being cautious or protective or preventive or whatever you going to call it. I told him the negative possibilities: 1. Mitch might be a gold digger; 2. Mitch will get pregnant; or 3. He will get HIV/AIDS from her. He was surprise and confuse. So, I suggested him to stop meeting her. But then, they had sex again after that day and they did it four times until December.

And worse comes to worst, Mitch claimed that she’s pregnant. I had nothing to do but give him an advice. I’m just his teacher and a new friend. I’m not his special someone. He’s special to me but I think he doesn’t think that way to me. It hurts me to hear that news. If only he listened to my advice, it wouldn’t get this worse. Now, Dong (together with Jin) already graduated in the academy and they will be going to Australia on January 3rd. They will work there and continue studying english. Dong told me that he will be coming back in the Philippines in August. And I didn’t bother him to ask about his plans about Mitch. But I gave him my final advice: “Don’t give money. If she’s really pregnant, have a DNA test and take care of yourself.” That was my final words to him.

…to be continued.
